Message from The Organising Chairman

Dear Rotarians, spouses and friends,

We are weeks away from joining our counterparts in Districts 3330, 3340, 3350 and 3360 for the Multi-district Conference and our district’s 26th Conference.

The organizing committee looks forward to welcoming you, your spouses and families in Bangkok, and your active participation over the conference weekend.

Much awaits us. What with the RI President John Germ joining us at the welcome dinner and a speaker from the US; a master trainer, specially flown in for the weekend.

Thailand is a country favored by many in our district for its shopping, dining and leisure opportunities. As Rotarians, many of us have sister or friendship club relationships with the hospitable Rotarians here and have also executed countless projects in this land. To say we have an affinity with Thailand is putting it mildly.

This multi-district conference offers us a great opportunity to meet up with old friends and make new ones across districts. But a district conference is more than just Rotarians meeting. It is a celebration of a year of change; a year of solidarity; a year of friendship. We welcome new members and say goodbye to those who have departed. We learn, we teach and we inspire.

Other than the usual plenary sessions to discuss various business and on-going developments in the district, you are all welcome to the District Leadership Seminar on Friday, May 12 and listen to inspiring speakers on a range of topics from getting people to do stuff, to key to strategic thinking and team-building strategies. Our district’s tradition of golf fellowship and spouse program have much to offer and allow more to have a fun and fulfilling weekend.

DG Michael Yee has worked hard the last couple of years and especially 2016-17. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve alongside him and to learn from him.

To my committee members. We had a slow start and some challenges along the way. But I humbly applaud all of you for standing steadfast with me and giving your best towards a smoothly run district conference. We know that it can never be flawless, even when we have done our best.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all advertisers and sponsors, without whom we will not be able to pull off the event. Special thanks also to many others who have walked this path before, who shared with me their experiences and given me words of advice.

To DG Jason Lim of District 3350, his Conference Chair, PDG Suchada Ithijarukul and her committee. You have more than made up for our shortcomings and I thank you for the support and hard work. It is my hope that our district grow even closer after this multi-district conference.

Rotary is a lifelong journey. A learning journey. What happens to Rotary and our district tomorrow depends on what we do today.

If you have not yet registered, please do so immediately. Your presence and participation means much to us.
For those who have, may you all enjoy a smooth journey to Bangkok. I cannot wait to see you in there and soak in the camaraderie.

Yours in Rotary,

Sylvia Lee
